On and/or Off

switch me on
electric thoughts
the sun on my back
on my shoulders, ankles, skimming out my toes

Sun sets
I'm off
numb from too much input
frozen out

W\switch me off
I'm tired
exhausted
gassed out

Sun rises
on -rays hit me
off-behind a tree
on-heat punches me
of-slipped behind a cloud

it rises and sets
each day each night
earth turns and with the turning spins

experience in on
off
on...

Tonight was so exciting: there was some actual processing of what Troy and Liz have been trying to TEACH: there was actual LEARNING tonight. Having to go back and forth between the edublog site and the podcast recording and try 15 times to upload, save, and publish--and then I got three mp3s on my blog and had to start over; I now have the process embedded (sort of)! And, listening to my melodious voice made me think of a student who recited "Mother to Son" so perfectly that I wanted a recording; ha! I'll get one before the end of the year and have it ready for kids to understand what I mean when I say, "I want to hear your poems read DRAMATICALLY." Awesome night. Now, if I can just figure out how to delete the "uncategorized" section of my blog and how to label the "categories" and USE them.

I'm wondering what is actually different when comparing wikis to blogs. They seem almost identical (with exception to the appearance). I enjoy the usability of the technology but it is frustrating to imagine how to implement the technology when i am so unfamiliar with it myself.

The RSS feeds are still very intimidating to me. It might be nice to see more ways that they can be used. I really liked seeing how the blogs can be monitored through RSS.

I really think that using the edublogs will be helpful in some areas of the classroom, but I'm glad we were introduced to wikis first. I ended up linking my wiki to my edublog in order to allow the students to collaborate on characteristics of characters in my book. Then I can use edublogs to post predictions etc. I am still trying to filter all of this in my brain and work on what works best where. I'm excited about using this technology and was given permission to do so.

Hi --
Well Edublog is a cool idea, but I am still overwhelmed with all of these new technology resources, my head is spinning.
But I am excited about all of the new prospects and keep thinking about how to use these in my classes, maybe not this year but definitely next year.

Thank you, Deb.
I worked hard to create multiple levels of "reading" but I wish I had some process for feedback or interaction for the viewer. I not thought about it until I saw the post (by Troy)

Kevin

PS -- Today, I wrote about the process I went through to write and create the poem

OMG--apart from the interactive component--the map that has each of the poems on its--helix?--and the "echo" poem where you play two tracks, the poems echo with similar thoughts that I find in my students writing. There are multiple levels of thought and feeling and expertise and creativity here that, with the right student, this type of production would produce so much learning about writing and about self. This is an amazing piece of work.

Perhaps this is supposed to be in the forum, but on vacation I have forgotten my password and so have to return home before I can find a copy of it.
NO matter,
technoloogy is soooo rich and inviting, and there are always going to be people who see that it is too difficult or too timeconsuming,

but I think that ALL of us will use this technology differently---
and that is one of the beauties of technolgy-
we can all apply it in unique ways.
I do use it in cousenlng in ways I would never have thought possible a year ago.
It IS happening, and barriers are not barriers-they are challenges-eveyone needs to accept these and maneuver around them as necessary.
OR JUST SEE THE AHA moments!!
